fenix 5 plus - mountain bike activity stopping / crashing

Hi,

Recently (last month) my garmin fenix 5 plus started stopping during the mountain bike activity after a while (time varies, 10 mins sometimes 45 mins etc).

So it will stop the activity and you cannot resume, so i lose all the data up to that point. My auto pause is off, the battery saver is set to extended, i've reset the watch, nothing seems to fix it, running activities etc are fine it is only the mountain biking activity.

I never had this issue a few months ago, i have a feeling it started with more recent software versions, my current software version is 12.0

any help is appreciated

  • Running the same setup and watch as you and haven't experienced these problems whilst mountain biking. I don't use battery saving etc. Is yours using the default watch mtb activity? Have you checked your watch capacity (storage) to see if its full? Although if it was a capacity issue this would prob affect other activities. Perhaps install the update again manually and check all the versions are up to date (wifi/GPS/bluetooth etc)?

  • I am experiencing similar issues with my Fenix 5. Multiple activities (Running, Cycling, swimming). Despite locking the buttons, the activity stops mid activity prematurely. I look down at my watch and it is stopped. I then need to click resume in order to continue the activity but the data is lost for the period between it stopping by itself and me happening to notice it is stopped and clicking resume. Watch is up to date, and I have performed the Master Reset using these instructions but the issue persists.
