Fenix 5plus battery drain

I’ve recently purchased the Fenix 5+ because my vivosmart battery would drain in just over a day.

The spec indicated upto 10 days for the F5+..... I’m lucky to get 2 days, with nothing running and no activities?

have I got a duff watch, or are there any secrets?

Ive checked and I’ve got all the latest updates!?

  • I am having the same issue. What model is your Fenix 5+? Is it APAC model? What software version?

Running version 12.00, no update advised. Not sure what the APAC relates to?

ive tried reset, but so far no real improvement.

ive turned off WiFi, gone back to standard watch face etc, so only thing ‘running’ is Bluetooth and GPS.

NOT OVERLY IMPRESSED AS THE BATTERY LIFE WAS WHY I CHANGED!

  • I had the same issue since about a week ago and I think after the latest version update. It drains much faster now. It's a shame there's no analysis program to understand what is really eating up the battery

I am having the same issue... Battery life was fine until the recent update.

I have a European model and version 13.00 on my Fenix 5+

  • There's already a beta driver that seems to fix the issue (at least it did for me). Either install that (there's a sticky link at the top of this forum) or wait a little longer for the fix to be deployed as a normal fw update.

I have USA model.  Garmin support just told me 13.00 is the current firmware version for the Fenix 5 plus.  There is a new Bluetooth update coming out.  Mine is at 6.06.  6.09 was just released today and should get pushed out within a week.  Fingers crossed!  Menu > Settings > About

  • Please note: Bluetooth software version 6.09 has been released and is the final piece to resolving the abnormal battery drain caused by a v13.00 software bug. Thank you to everyone for your patience while the issue was resolved.

  • The solution still doesn't work for me (and other people). The battery lasts 4/5 days in smart mode (without gps activities, music, second hand or third-party watchfaces).
  • For me it worked. After updating with Garmin Express (all updates except the map updates I did) it's now back to normal battery drainage. Huge difference.

  • Same issue for me.  Software 13 with 6.09 driver and battery life is shocking.  Was getting nearly 10 days from a charge with about 8 activities at the same time.  Now get about 3 days with maybe 1 activity.  Very fustrating.
