Do you use a screen protector?

Just got a Fenix 5s plus and very happy with it. I've had smart watches for the past 5 years and never had a scratch. Visited the Fenix Reddit group and they all seem to be using screen protectors.

Do you use a screen protector? Question only applies to non sapphire owners. If so, do you go with glass or foil? Thanks.

  • I always used one on my Fenix 3hr after I scratched the glass... I used the plastic flexible ones.(I still have about 5 left) .. (I never tried the hard glass protectors) ...they definitely saved the glass from scratches a few times... but they need replacing everything few months.. as they get scratched easily ..I'd imagine the hard glass protectors would be less prone to scratching than the soft plastic ones.

    All the best.

  • I have good experiences with a glass one. I replaced it after 1,5 year, I wouldn't be happy if the scratches I had in the protector were in the glass of the watch itself. If you look where you buy they are pretty cheap, only a few euro's for a set.

  • Never have on any Garmin watch I've ever owned. Despite falling off mountain bikes, tumbling down scree slopes and running into street signs (don't ask) never damaged a screen yet.

But I do know people who say they have...

  • On my old Fenix 5 I had a tempered glass one and you couldn't even tell it was on.

However when I got the Fenix 5 plus I  got a good deal on the sapphire version and in nearly 2 years I have not fitted a screen protector. I do however use a silicon protector for the bezel which may also help give some protection to the screen

    You are not alone!
    Bus stops too... ;)
