Fenix 5 Plus Series - 12.00 Release Candidate

Hello Fenix 5/5S/5X Plus users,

We have new beta software ready for your upcoming adventures!

This software version is our next Public Release Candidate. This means that this software will become a public update, as long as we do not identify any critical bugs in this version. We would appreciate any feedback on v12.00. (Whether you install 12.00 now or wait for the official release in a few days, the v12.00 "release candidate" or "public release update" software will be identical.)

Note: Please allow for the updates to propagate across all servers. There is no need to post that the link does not work. It will after a bit of patience.

Please note: In the 11.73 beta release, we provided ANT/BLE version 6.03. However, we have identified an issue with this software that can cause disconnection issues to the paired phone or external sensors/headphones. We have pulled this peripheral software back. In the included folders for v11.75 and 12.00, you will find the file needed to backdate your ANT/BLE software from 6.03 to 5.04. The instructions for installation provided on the above links remain the same, no additional steps are needed for installing the backdate file. 

12.00 Change Log Notes:

  • Version number bump to 12.00 (There are no software changes since v11.75)

Please note, the beta updates released on these forums are not suitable for APAC region devices.

    I don't know whether it is a problem with the software on my fenix 5 plus or in the garmin connect app, but livetrack didn't work for me today. I've tried 2 times without any luck. The garmin connect app indicated it had connection with the watch and livetrack was running, but looking at the webpage it just showed the start location without any track and sometimes an error that it didn't have connection or something similar.

    I've got problems with gps track. Sent an email to beta team.

    hi there, how about the overall software stabilety compared with a year ago?

    I am in the marked for a second hand, hoping the value for money is more equal now, I have seen a lot of complaines in the past. So just wondering how it is now?

    Honestly, it is not an easy question to answer because it depends of your question (which is quite wide).

    If you ask about STABILITY then it is very fine (I think that the quite often watch reboots earlier are gone).
    If you ask about SYNC issues between watch -> computer/mobile -> Garmin website then it is very fine
    If you ask about  GPS Prcecision then for most people it is also very fine (a few complaints here and there).
    if you aks about BLUETOOTH connection quality then you can se for most peple that it is very fine. A few users complain about specific bluetooth devices having issue.

    If you talk about new FEATURES/FUNCTIONS in updated firmwares, then people are annoyed. Lack of functionality that works/exists in Fenix 6 - eg PAGEPRO stuff is missing and more. 

    Bottom line is really a matter of  what type of activities you are going to use, the battery size and the price.

    Thank's for your quick reply, good to hear most of it is fine now.

    The use for me is beside a possible every day watch, run analisis, keep track of left right balence due to phisical restriction. Then using maps while going off road bike or running canoeing. Then less important openwater swimming, and some smartwatch features. Looking now for a second hand good looking titanium saphire one arround 375,-
