Running Dynamics not working with HRM-Run Sensor.

Hello, I have just purchased a Fenix 5 Plus and I'm coming from an old Fenix 2 which already had running dynamics with HRM-Run (old version).

I am having this issue, the HRM-Run Sensor records HR but not RD.... did anyone found a solution for this? Do I have to return the device?

I have seen many threads on this, but they are all 2 years old and really not solving the issue. Sorry to repeat again.

Thank you!

  • What do you mean with

    HRM-Run (old version)

I am not aware that there are different versions of the HRM run. I bought mine 2 years ago for my Fenix 3 and since a year I use it with an F5+ without any issues. Running dynamics data are shown for every running activity.

  • I meant is the older version of the HRM Run, it is coming from the Fenix 2. It's a bit different than the current HRM Run (coloured) and it looks more like th HRM Dual but with the RUN figure graved. At the end I think internally is the same than current one

  • If you HRM is the old one, without the white painted runner on it, then it doesn’t do running dynamics. Refer here: www.dcrainmaker.com/.../garmin-hrm-details.html

  • I have one of those old ones and it is still working well. If you've changed the battery and are definitely wearing it the right way up then it's possible the HRM has reached the end of its life.

  • I have just this one! With the running man engraved, yes.

Is it giving you all RD? With Vertical Ratio, stride length and ground contact time balance?

In my case this are the data that are not giving me and I have doubts that this model can give them. I am going to change the battery, but it appears as "normal" in the watch when you look in sensor data...

    Thank you for all answers!

  • I do get the running dynamics when I use this one. If I remember, I'll take it for a run tonight. Check that the contacts are clean too as they can get 'messy' if not cleaned properly. This one must be quite a few years old not but I have looked after it. And of course, the strap can deteriorate after long use. Fortunately the straps are not expensive and still available separately.

  • I have the same issue and was just going to raise a support ticket on it. I have a 5S+ and a HRM-Run (purchased last year and the current version I believe) that was working all ok up until about a month or so ago and now no running power/dynamics :-(

  • Have you changed the battery?

  • I have just seen that my HRM-Run is still om 6.30 firmware, but there's an update to 6.60 that it's related tp running dynamics, so this must be my problem.

Anyway I tried to update the software through GExpress and the Watch and it don't says anything about an update and after sync the sensor remains in 6.30....

    Any idea?

  • Have you changed the battery yet?

Try removing it from Sensors and Accessories. Sync the watch with Garmin Express or GCM. Hard reset the watch - press and hold top left button until it powers off. Restart the watch. Reconnect the HRM to the watch. Sync the watch to Garmin Express then see if the update is sent to the watch once you've connected the sensor.

It is possible the update is needed but I think that's unlikely. The watch should download the update from GE (possibly GCM) and then send it to the sensor when you have the sensor connected.
