Bluetooth re-connection problem after been out of reach of my phone

hey there,

since some time I got some problems with my bluetooth connection which I never expirienced before.

The connection to my iphone X is stable as long as my phone is more or less in reach of the watch, but sometimes ist happens, that after I went away from the phone, for example to a different room and the watch lost the connection that it will not automatically reconnect, when I‘m near the phone again. Disabling and reenabling bluetooth on the watch does not help, I need either disable and reenable bluetooth on the phone or go into my devices list on the phone and open the connection manually by tapping on the device name.

I have the latest firmware installed on my Fenix 5x Plus as well as on my iphone and I was not able to determine yet, why and when this problem happens. I have the feeling, it happens more often when I‘m away from the phone for a longer time, for example half an hour. But it does not happen always and everyday, sometimes it does not happen for two days and then twice or three times.

I also did delete all the garmin apps from the phone and also deletes the bluetooth connection and setted up everything from scratch, without any luck.

I read several threads about bluetooth problems but I‘m not sure, if this relates to my problem and I‘m also not sure, if the problem is on the watch or the phone side. I rather tend to believe it has todo with the phone as toggling bluetooth on the watch has no affect, IOS complience to other brands devices is sometimes a bit strange....

Anyone got a clue or similar issues?

Greetings

    Same issue here.

It sporadically works with my iPhone XS no matter what firmware i got on the phone or watch (since almost 2 years!!!).

Tried everything from reset to new install... nothing solved that issue.

As sayed in another thread - even crappy cheap china watches can handle it - just Garmin is unable or has "better things" to do than care about user issues with their products.

  • I didn't really notice it before, maybe the problem was there from the beginning, but due to the current home office, my phone is on the table and I move through the house all the time and sometimes looses connection due to distance, walls, etc. and sometimes, when I come back in reach it does not connect automatically.....

The one point, which makes me curious is, that the bluetooth reset on the phone brings the connection back, so it points more to a phone issue rather than a watch issue, but who knows......

  • Mine is OK at the moment but its been awful in the past... and I expect it will be awful again and again in the future... I sometimes get maybe four weeks without the issue.. but then some.. in the background update from Garmin will mess it up again.... In fact when a new software update is available.... Garmin make me nervous to even try it..... I love my awsome watch...no other brand has fully integrated or downloadable map capabilities... I just wish the software platform was more stable over long periods.. I own no other brand of fitness watch to compare with.. Garmin may be the best at software as far as I know lol....
