Fenix 5 Plus Series - 11.00 Release Candidate

Hello Fenix 5/5S/5X Plus users,

We have new beta software ready for your upcoming adventures!

This software version is our next Public Release Candidate. This means that this software will become a public update, as long as we do not identify any critical bugs in this version. We would appreciate any feedback on v11.00

Note: Please allow for the updates to propagate across all servers. There is no need to post that the link does not work. It will after a bit of patience.

11.00 Change Log Notes:

  • Made improvements to the music experience.

Please note, the beta updates released on these forums are not suitable for APAC region devices.

Please send all bug reports to outdoor[email protected], and indicate which model of the fenix 5 Plus series you have in the subject line.

  • Anyone know what these improvements to the music experience are?...I haven't taken the plunge.

I was hoping for FF and Reverse on the same page tab and not on a separate page within the widget as it is now on public release 10.10.

  • I didn't even know i was having a.... uuuuuuhhhh.... music EXPERIENCE. I wish these people talked less bs and more facts, like telling us what has changed.

  • I guess it's slightly better than.. "made improvements to the watch experience"

    Lol...

Its been like this.. (vague) for years.... and I totally agree with you.

  • Change logs should be written by the software developers and not by ***-bingo-marketing guys!

  • I found a bug a bug that is a little odd so it probably existed I previous FW versions.

    The setup.

    1. 2 Android phones with GCM installed and logged into the same connect account and F5Plus
    2. Enable BT on both phones
    3. Have watch paired with phone 1
    4. Disable BT on phone 1
    5. When phone shows pairing code for phone 2, hold the light button and select the BT phone connection to disable BT.
    6. The watch will restart.

I have been able to reproduce this anytime the BT is turned off while the watch is in pairing mode and you use the control screen to disable the BT connection on thewatch.  If you cancel the pairing code, the watch will disable the link with no issue.

  • Not sure if related to this beta, but I noticed this after the beta update and reported this to the beta team: I ended a Run activity, and went back to the watch face for a few seconds. Then started a Walk activity. After a minute or so, I noticed a "Sync failed" notification. Some 10 minutes into the walk, I started to do an altimeter calibration and then noticed there was no GPS reception and no Tempe connection. After the altimeter calibration a GPS position was acquired and the Tempe connection re-established. In the activity there is no GPS or Tempe data between the "sync failed" moment and the calibration moment.

Probably something goes wrong with the BLE connection to the phone and that affects the recording of the current activity. I have never been happy with the instant syncing after an activity ends, cellular data connections are not great where I run, syncing takes a long time, and I'd be happy to wait with syncing when I'm home. Not syncing I can live with, but syncing interfering with another ongoing activity isn't good. Wish there was a 'hold uploading' (until there is wifi, for example) choice in Garmin Connect

  • Has the easy switch  between Local and Spotify been added, please?

  • @

How can I install final version over release candidate , I don't have any prompt to install final version

    Thanks

  • You don't need to.  The release candidate was the final version.  It would only have changed if they found any show stopping bugs.  Since they did not, you were in the first 50%.
