  • Wifi Sync is still not possible with my Vodafone-Router. The connection can be established and the watch says "Verbindungsfehler" whereas the GC app says that the connection was successfull! So unfortunately no change.

  • With Fritz Box, no problem.

  • I know, because I tested it with 2 Fritzboxes — but this doesn't help! It is not working with my router although all my other devices (Smartphones, Computers, Smart-TVs) work with it.

  • So the issue must be with the Vodafone Router. What settings are different to the Fritzbox?

  • As the F5+ refused to connect to lots of routers when I bought it, I would assume that it's not only an issue of Vodafone. As mentioned all other devices in our household connect flawless with it.
After one of the last updates the Fenix at least syncs via my old TP-Link router which is connected to the Vodafone router. In the beginning it did not sync at all, later it synced only once after a reboot of the router and now every time. My F3 never had issues with the TP-link. As I sold my F3 before I got the Vodafone-router I cannot check if this combination would work.

Of course I tried all relevant settings, so this is not the reason and as mentioned the GC app confirms a successful connection whereas the watch gives an error message - this alone is a hint that the issue is on the Garmin side!

  • Do you have 5GHz and 2.4GHz WiFi SSIDs with the same name by any chance? I believe the F5+ will struggle finding 2.4GHz SSIDs if you have a 5GHz using the same name. May be worth checking

  • Thank you! I tried it with an older firmware and when I gave them different names I saw that the Fenix does not detect 5GHz networks at all.
At work we have a 2,4GHz and 5GHz network for mobile devices both with the same name - and there the Fenix connects perfectly.

Nevertheless I will try it again at home with the current firmware.

  • Do you have a password with special characters? Try again without a password (only for testing! )  or a password which has only numbers.

Can you try to add the WiFi directyl from the watch?

  • For me the beta introduced a error 500 while trying to connect to my wifi.

this is the first time i see this since i got my 5x+ 1.5 years ago.

i deleted the wifi connection and created a new one „successfully“, but when i try to connect i got the error 500

not a big deal, but i thought i should note this here. By the way, i have a avm fritzbox 6490 with 7.1 firmware and have seperate 2,4 & 5 Ghz SSIDs

  • Maybe just a bad coincidence, sever issue ???

without any change, now the watch was syncing via WLAN
