Strange heart rate curve

Hi!

I found my heart rate curve strange. It starts at around 100-140, and then after a while it pops up to the heart rate i actually have. My suunto shows a more linear curve during my trainings.

Any one with familiar issues? The last pic is from my friends 620, with the same behaviour.

  • To me, that curve seems very typical for the built-in OHR in a Garmin watch.

If you can't accept it (and I wouldn't), get yourself an external HR sensor. Or buy a watch from another vendor and hope that they did a better job - which is not a given.

  • Garmin provides explanation for this specific behaviour of the OHR sensor in one of their support center articles:

(...)Why does this happen? In some cases there isn't much blood in the tissue on the back of the wrist. This issue is common when it is cold outside or early in a workout before your blood really starts pumping.
How can I prevent this from occurring?
When you plan to workout, warm up a bit before starting the activity.  In addition to this, make sure you are properly wearing the watch.(...)

    More details in the article.

I have exactly the same problem since a few weeks.

Real hartrate only after 15 to 20 minutes of training.

The cold cannot be the problem, last year I also had a fenix 5 s ( different as actual watch); also cold in winter and outside but no problem with hartrate...

    Is this a bug?
