Fenix 5 Plus backlight never off

Just before Christmas my Fenix 5 Plus was replaced by Garmin due to a compass issues.

My new one works perfectly apart from the backlight. This never switches off completely and is always on dimly, annoying in a dark room.

Garmin UK couldn’t answer if this was due to hardware changes in very recent serial numbers.

Could anyone who has a very new 5 Plus let me know if their backlight is completely off when backlight not in use?

Latest v10 and full factory reset. Also reverted to previous firmware with no improvement.

HI Rod, I have 5 plus sapphire model. Its about 3m old. The backlight is definitely not on permanently. Have you tried going into settings\system\backlight and adjusting the time out. There is an option here for to never time out. Perhaps its set to "never". Good Luck

Thanks for the reply.

Definitely set correctly as the brightness level changes from set value (20%) after time out to a value around 1-2%.

Had this issue on brand new Fenix 5X - Garmin replaced it with a new watch, since they could not fix the issue. I suspect some partial short circuit on the electronics board could lead to this type of issue, though I never got any good explanation of the root cause. Good luck !

Garmin UK have agreed that the watch must be faulty. All settings correct.
Replacing it for the 2nd time.
