I fully understand your feelings. I had the same with other issues. Contact the Garmin support and insist that they should change the device.
That company become more and more a joke. Where do they find all the super programmer’s. At Boing ?
Of course you do. Me too. We payed a lot of money for a watch which isn't doing what they promised. Nothing more disappointing like Garmin. And they don't care. They got their money.

I have also noticed increased battery usage (around 1% per hour)
So I just got my Fenix 5 plus and it updated to 9.00 so I have nothing to go off of on previous versions but I was at 57% at 8 am this morning and now I am at 55%. I have 2 additional watchfaces installed right now. I haven't done any tracked activities with this battery cycle. No music. I do have some notifications setup for text messages and have gotten a few today. I also have gesture setup for the backlight at 10%. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be better or not. I have noticed I seem to lose about 10% total in a 24 hour time period. Last night at about 10 pm I was at 60%.
Delete the added watch faces. Is the battery life improved?
Well I am using one of the watch faces so I don't want to delete it. I don't think the battery life is awful and I don't want to have to use a watch face I don't like just to get a little bit better battery life.
I see it looks like I can delete the pre-installed watch faces too. If I delete them can I reinstall them from somewhere?
I've never deleted any of the watch faces that came with the watch so can't absolutely answer that. However, before you do, connect your watch to a computer and make a backup of the appropriate folder before you remove anything. That way you can out them back.
My comment was referring to CIQ added watch faces, not any of the stock watch faces that come built in.
I'm noticing a similar elevation in battery utilisation since 9.00. No change in watch face, training or music listening and I'm experiencing what appears to be a 15-20% drop in battery life.
Deleting them doesn't delete them totally - you can re-add stock watchfaces no problem - It just removes them as an active face
So I decided to delete the CIQ watch faces and try one of the stock watch faces and noticed my battery life was worse last night. I lost 6% over night vs 2-3% with the CIQ watch face installed.
If that really is the case, contact Garmin support.
