Garmin pay with a HRM

Is this a bug?

If I use Garmin pay while in an activity using my HRM strap then I have to enter my passcode every time.

If I use Garmin pay outside an activity then I only have to enter the passcode the first time.

Does on wrist detection not work when using a HRM?

It kind of makes sense. The wrist OHR is turned off when using an external HR sensor. When the wrist OHR is turned off, it can't be used for detecting if the watch has been removed from the wrist.

Actually, in my case it is an advantage. When I bike or kayak with an external HR sensor, I often take the watch off and place it on the deck of the kayak or the handlebar of the bike. If I forget it there, and someone steals it, they will at least not be able to use Garmin Pay.
