Bose Bluetooth - Spotify - loss of buttons

I’m running 8.40, but this issue has plagued me back to v6 firmware. While on AT, and even today, randomly my PLAY button on my Bose Soundsport Free and the Spotify (START on F5XP) app just quit working. The FORWARD button also fails to work.  The only way to get working is to reboot the watch.

Ive tried disconnecting and reconnecting. I’ve tried unpairing and repairing the Bose, I’ve tried switching the connection to phone (and buttons work again) and back to watch, but nothing reenables the buttons.

I have not tried another music app. But that’s the next step.

Anyone experience a similar issue with Bluetooth earbuds?

I've noticed the same thing. I'll lose the ability to skip track on both the headset and the watch on occasion. It seems to occur when I've reentered the Spotify app a handful of times after I've started to play music, but I've been unable to root cause any further than that.

  • Yes, I agree. It seem to be related to extended use of the app. Yesterday, for example, I was listening to music, and decided to use the app UPDATE DOWNLOADS feature. I received the message that music would be stopped, I hit the OK, and the playlist updated. When it completed, and I returned to the play controls, the buttons did not work. I had to reboot the watch.

The thing about it for me is that it usually happens at the most inopportune time, like in the middle of an activity.

Indeed. I've learnt not to re-enter the Spotify app once I've started a workout and music is playing for this very reason.

  • So another user in a different forum said to sync at least two playlists, and then when the buttons disappear, try switching the list. I did that and it worked.

Interesting. I'll try this next time, thanks!
