I’ve encountered an issue with creating a new course from the watch and I'm wondering if anyone has resolved it. When I create a course directly from the watch by adding two POIs, the course it creates is simply a straight line between the two points instead of using the available paths. I first noticed this in Hiking mode which is configured to use the pre-installed TopoActive maps but it behaves the same if I pick locations in the city in walk (OSM maps) or cycling mode (TopoActive).
I am running the 8.71 beta release and have notified Garmin but I have my doubts that it's an issue with the beta. Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. I don't need tips on creating courses using Garmin Connect, Basecamp, or tools like dwMap as I'm already familiar with those. I would like the ability to create courses on the fly from the watch if need be in situations where those tools aren't available.
