Adding an unscheduled run to Garmin adaptive training plan.

Using Coach Gregs half marathon training plan with a Fenix 5 plus. 6 weeks left and I went for an unscheduled long run 17km with a group of other runners. A 50min easy run was scheduled for that day. However when I started my watch and is asked to “Do workout” I just scrolled to “skip”. So now I have this 17km run under my belt where I did real well but I can’t seem to find a way to add it to the “adaptive training plan”, which obviously I feel is doing a huge disservice to my progression. Any suggestions.

  • As far as I know you can't add (unscheduled) runs to the plan.
    You can do the scheduled run and let it continue recording after the workout is finished an you want to continue running. Or postpone the workout to another day or just skip it. The algorithm will adjust the runs later if needed. I agree with you that the plan could pick up other runs as well and adjust the plan based on the speed/milage etc. 
    But i guess it is working as designed as Garmin Coach expects you to follow the workouts in the plan. And if a 17km run isn't part of the plan you don't run the 17 km.....
