8.71 Change Log Notes:

Made several improvements for CIQ music apps.
Made several improvements and bug fixes for Golf.
Fixed an issue where the device would appear to be frozen when the user tries to access wallet on the device immediately after deleting wallet in the Garmin Connect Mobile App.

Please note, the beta updates released on these forums are not suitable for APAC region devices.

8.71 with GPS 2.51, after running and pool swimming activities, all I noticed is a strange GPS lock on the start of my running. It's like it didn't have a clear position. Maybe I should let it for a couple of minutes more in GPS locking before I pressed the start button. Tomorrow I will test it in mountain biking under trees....

I did a binary compare of the GPS_v250 delivered with this beta and the v250 downgrade from the v251 beta package and they differ. I've no idea what differences might be, of course.

Did you power off the watch? In 98% of all cases it is due to not rebooting watch.

Are you still having battery drain issues with this beta?

The binaries differ because one is slightly differently packaged than the other. Also one contains a "downgrade" flag. But the actual binary data that gets written to the watch is identical in both files.

I tried this out on the golf course yesterday and I noticed two things:

1. Autoshot seems much improved as it detected all but one of my tee shots, and the one it missed was a weird swing with poor contact. (It would still be very nice to have a way to manually invoke shot measurement in these cases, but I digress.)

2. The watch no longer skips ahead to the next hole before you're finished. In the past, I've had issues with the watch skipping ahead to the next hole before I'm finished putting or if my tee shot was sprayed on to an adjacent hole.

It was just one nine-hole round but the results are encouraging. I also went hiking and everything seems to be working as normal so I encourage golfers to install this beta.
