Wrong pace value on treadmill activity after 8.40 firmware update on Fenix 5x plus

Hi,

After the upgrade of my Fenix 5x plus to 8.40 firmware, my pace, and the distance in consequence, is too way off on a treadmill running. It seems that this upgrade wipe out the calibration that I done before.

It was a 6k running and the watch showed 7.75k (I do not use a foot pod)! Before the upgrade the error in my treadmill runs was in the order of +/-150 m.

Another issue to mention is that the battery has drained 2% (too fast in my opnion) in 45 min of activity (6k treadmill running and strenth workout) without GPS or Music, only sync with the phone and the RD pod.

  • I’m having issues since like 2 weeks. Mine is set for auto lap in kilometers. On treadmill it records double pace pretty much. Have done calibration every time.  Seems like it’s doing double counting on cadence but cadence is still recording correctly. Annoying!

I am having the same issue since about a month ago, the watch just started recording too much distance on Treadmill. Made an updated last week and did not help. The Fenix records about twice as much distance as my actual Treadmill run. I run more outside, so calibration should not be a problem. The other problem is that Strava is updated with the wrong distance even after the calibration at the end of the run. Can't believe Garmin can't figure this bug out....

I have been having the same issue.   My pace went from 8min/mi to 4min/mi on my average runs on treadmill.   I have tried calibrating after each run and the pace keeps getting worse.  I have emailed garmin but it someone has an answer please share.  It is frustrating to calibrate after each run.

  • Still same problem for me even after latest up-date. Based on above it seems like reset does not help. I will have to stop to go on the treadmill ;-)

I have heard back from Garmin and they have acknowledge an issue and plan on rolling out an update.  They did not have a date for this.

I have also received an email from Garmin acknowledging that there is a problem, and they are working “hard” to solve. The email is from Oct 11, but so far nothing has happened. I will never buy another Garmin product again, and will use whatever opportunity I may have to advertise how bad with Customer service they are, just I have, for years, said how good their products were.  Really upsetting

Yup... been having the same issue for a bit now.  Did factory rest and then 8, 1 mile treadmill runs in a row at 10 min per mile pace to try and get the thing calibrated... now the watch has settled in thinking I'm running 20 min per mile instead of the 10 min per mile I'm actually doing.... wouldn't think this was something hard to fix and kinda an important feature coming into the winter months.  Wish they'd fix this quickly, but not holding my breath given Garmin's track record...

I wonder if I wipe out all settings to factory default again and re-calibrate, but enter double the distance (or would it be half?) if it would settle into the correct pacing?

I have tried to dowload Beta version for the fenix 5, the version is 14.73 i will try to see how it works now on the treadmill. They are supposed to have fixed the issue with this beta update.

Don’t think the Fenix 5 beta will work on the 5plus, but I guess if they fix it on the 5... maybe the 5+ isn’t far behind.
