It would be nice if true, but this is not the first time Garmin had been wrong on their website regarding features for certain older devices.

I believe that is a mistake. Garmin-Heath can you report this internally to verify?

No dcrainmaker.com say in one comment of his review: "F5 (Plus) has dead-line for new features". Only bug fixes.
