I have problem with map loading time (latest map version). Everything takes noticeably longer and and often reboots.
Have you same problem?
I've had connectivity problems since the update: every time I'm away from my Android phone and the watch disconnects from the phone, they don't reconnect without me removing and re-adding the…
Garmin, please check the battery management. Since the new 8.40 version, the battery live has been significantly reduced, especially if I track an activity. E.g. during hiking, the battery went down from…
Me too :(
Me too
Im ok with map speeds BUT I will point out
1) I live in a quite rural area, so maps are pretty sparse
2) Apart from some basecamp satelite imagery, I'm just using the standard topo maps
So it may not be relevant... but are you guys using extra third party maps?
I was using www.openfietsmap.nl maps in combination with the standard maps and only selected the openfietsmaps in my runs, but the turn-by-turn navigation was very spotty most of the time i did not got any notification at all. After I deleted the standard garmin maps, so the only maps on my 5+ are the openfietsmap, and since then turn-by-turn navigation is working perfect.
I'll have to test turn-by-turn this weekend then! I don't use it often as I'm very much a random runner!
So it is Garmin Express MAC version problem. You need connect watch to Windows version and reinstall TOPO MAP. Then everything is OK!

Anyone else experiencing this or is it just my setup (Fenix 5X Plus + Pixel 2)...
Have you whitelisted the Garmin Connect app in Battery power management? My wife had a similar problem with her Huawei - the new Android's power management can be very trigger happy in killing apps to save battery
I checked the phone settings and did not find any restrictions for the connect app. Anyway, I turned A droid's adaptive battery setting off, maybe it'll help.
This started happening right after the 8.40 update so my blaming finger points to that, BUT if I'm the only one experiencing this, it might have sth to do weith the phone as well.
Normally I'd try to re-install the connect app but I'm in a middle of a run coaching setup and too afraid to lose the data.
I don't know if it is somehow Android version specific issue but similar issue was discussed here https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/fenix-5-plus-series/170271/f5-stopped-sync-ing-failed-to-re-pair-and-bt-icon-not-showing-in-settings
It happened to me three times this week already with OnePlus 7 Pro which also has quite new Android version as do Pixel phones (9 with Aug security version and kernel 4.14.83). I didn't receive any update this week nor changed any settings, however.
For me it was already with firmware 7.60 and haven't actually experienced it after 8.40 upgrade yesterday (F5+).
