Emergency assistance contact DOESN NOT RECEIVE text message when activated. All settings double checked and apparently correct, but text message does not work. Email address in Emergency contact works works just fine, just NOT text message. My husband has got this watch and exactly this same problem. Can anybody help?

Ive confirmed the same behaviour on my Fenix 5+ and Vivoactive 3 Music. Neither sends through a text when activated. This is a bit of a problem.

I had issues till I removed all non-alphabetical characters from my Garmin Profile name. Just tested now and working.

  • If you are still experiencing this issue, would you please reach out to us through our Product Support channels of chat/email/phone methods. We would like to investigate the cause of this and make sure that we get a fix in place so this works for everyone.

If anyone experiences what Former Member stated with this feature not working with non-alphabetical characters, and finds out it works without them or any other characters, we would like to hear from you too.

Disclaimer - I cannot say if it was coincidental. But I had no joy with texts (emails sent fine!) and then today after seeing this I had the thought of removing non-alphabetical - and it worked - again, may be coincidental, but it may be that Garmin's SMS Gateway doesn't like emoji's as name ;)

Just to confirm - for me anyway (your mileage may vary) - re-adding an emoji to my Garmin profile name stops a text being sent, removing it and it sends. May only work for me, but if anyone is having an issue and has non-alphabetic letters in their profile name - it's a very simple test to remove it and try!

Testing with a Garmin person seems to suggest the presence of emoji's in the proile name doesn't phase Android             are you on Android or iOS and if iOS what version?

And another thought - if you do have a no-alphabetical profile  name - Garmin-heath pointed out to me it may be a destination carrier issue... definitely worth trying with a simple profile name
