Weight Scale

How do you make a suggestion to Garmin?

The weight tracker on my Fenix 5 Plus app is driving me mad.....the scale for:

7 days - is (for me) 84kg to 87kg .....so useful
14 days is 84Kg to 90kg .....so useful

but the scale for 6 months is 0kg to 100kg ......so completely useless!! the weight looks like a straight line!!!

How do you change this scale ..or ask Garmin to change it?

  • The scale automatically adjusts itself to make room for the highest/lowest weights of the period you are looking at. (Which can in itself be annoying if you are scrolling through periods to compare them, and you want a stable vertical axis while doing so.)

I just tested, and if I scroll back to the first 6 months period where I had a Garmin watch, the scale will also start at 0, probably because the scale adjustment algorithm is a little stupid and thinks the missing data at the start of that period, before I got the watch, should be interpreted as 0 weight. That is probably what happens to you too - except that you are still in your first 6 months period.

So I will suggest that you input your weight for a date more than 6 months ago. That will sort out the auto scaling for the current 6 months period.

  • hi Allan,

thanks it works for the six month chart but not the year even though i have entered a weight every month - you really have to wonder if it was even tested as so many people get new watches every month.

I think it sums up my experience with Garmin so far - so much is good about the fenix 5 plus but so many let downs on things that could be fixed easily..

But thanks for the great advice ...much appreciated.

    Peter

  • Errh, have you tried the obvious - entering a weight which is older than a year?

  • yep! that was it...added one more than a year ago ...and now it works!

    thanks again!
