"Old" fenix 5 plus bought?

Hi there

I just got a "brand new" fenix 5 plus. However, I wonder that the battery was completely flat. It needed to charge for about 30min only to be able to be turned on.

Next thing I noticed is the firmware version: 2.30. That sounds rather old, doesn't it? Do you think that I got a very old sample? Will I have any problems with it?

The fw does not seem to be able to receive updates via Android app. I am now trying to update it via Garmin Express.

Just wondering if I should give it back and get another sample from a different dealer.

Thanks

Michael

So, great. After about one hour of operation the watch completely froze. No button does anything. Display just shows the time when it was frozen (about 15 min ago). The connect app says "not connected".

So, what do I do now? Is there a magic button combination to reset the watch? (The manual does not state anything here.) :(

  • Hold the light button for 15-20 seconds.

OK, found it on some youtube video. Pressing the "light" button for a long time shuts it off. Another press restarts it then.

Still, not a good first experience...

  • Just means they’ve likely had it in stock for some time. Slow turnover.

  • You should run while you can! Garmin = bugs and problems. It's a nice watch when it works, but I've never ever had so many stupid SW problems with anything before (maybe Windows ME og first release of Windows 95. lol). You already had one freeze after some hours of use. That should give you an indication about how unstable this thing is...
