Well have I ever....at last, and I hope it is not only for our dearly beloved CIQ developers ;-)

Looks that the structure over here is already different !!!

Not nice, not nice at all.

news-announcements forum-threading-change

Hello Everyone!

In an attempt to stay up with the needs of our community we are addressing one of your continued requests. We are going to changing the reply structure in discussions. There are some things we have control of here, and other things that are limitations of the software that we are working on externally, but this one we can do.

This means that moving forward, all replies will simply be in line one after another. There will not be any "branched" replies. The newest post will always be the last. This will make things much more straightforward and in line with the way that most of you have requested.

A few things to note:

  • Forums with branched replies will be "flattened"
  • All new forums posts going forward will be posted in order

Thanks for all of your feedback and your patience as we figure out the best ways to use the community to suit the needs of our developers!

-Coleman

  • I am so happy about these news.

The current, threaded view is absolutely unusable because there is no way of navigating through new posts in an existing, long thread without browsing through the full thread or search for the text strings "hours ago" and "minutes ago" to find the recent posts.

to suit the needs of our developers!

    Slight smile

  • I totally agree with this - hopefully they do the change across the whole forum, not only in the Developers section!

  • It is actually a bit unclear to me, what your message is.

Are you happy about the flat structure, or are you unhappy about it?

Is your latest comment intended to rectify something I wrote, or is there another purpose?

    nice questionair Slight smileWink

It is actually a bit unclear to me, what your message is.

not my message, just spreading Coleman's blog so other forum users get to see it

perhaps it is only for the CIQ part Wink

I see and interpret everything dark & negative...

Are you happy about the flat structure, or are you unhappy about it?

    happy

Is your latest comment intended to rectify something I wrote, or is there another purpose?

    no, other purpose

link attention to the real intention of changing the layout into flat view ?

Coleman's blog is only posted in the CIQ part of the "forum"

Yes, I saw that. But that is not the first time they first have introduced forum changes in the Developer section of the forum. I suppose the developers are being used a guinea pigs before the changes are rolled out to the entire forum.

That makes a lot of sense, because developers are probably more structured in their feedback if something is not right. Assuming that Garmin are listening to them, of course...

love the guinea pigs Slight smile

O, no doubt about that. The Garmin CIQ team is present in the CIQ "forum".

    my 2 cents...

Have the impression that the CIQ team has a broader view on the whole Garmin platform than any other Garmin team. Perhaps younger and fresh blood Slight smile . Also more talkative than the CIQ forum team.
