"Eat Alert" not working

I have set up an alert to eat every 30 minutes, but it is not working.  Any suggestions on what is going wrong?

I too found that I cannot set Custom Alerts.  I see the option but when choose one of the choices, I'm interested in setting Eat and Drink Alerts, nothing saves.  I have tried resetting the device to no resolve,  Anyone have other suggestions?

Where do you set up custom alerts? Connect Web, mobile app? I only have Til sunset/rise, and Hourly (Clock -> Alerts on the watch)

  • You can setup various type of alerts (eat, drink, go home, speed, HR freq, etc) from within a standard Garmin activity directly on the watch. I've never used them, so I can't say if they work or not on my F5+

This appears to have stopped functioning, I used to be able to set Custom Alerts but that option is no longer available.  Using a Garmin Fenix 5x Plus, ver. 14.0 (e036468)

Thanks @alan-campbell, I wasn’t routing that particular way.  Instead, I was opening the settings while pre-starting said activity wanting to set an alert for.

Riddle me this though, when setting the Custom, Eat or Drink Alert, how come it doesn’t appear to be re-edited?

Although not good I am happy to hear I’m not the only one with this issue.  I also noticed that when trying to configure a multi-sport activity the same thing happens...nothing.  It’s almost like I cannot “save” the specified settings.

  • I think I now get what you mean, its even more weird:

Custom Alerts were not shown on my watch, just Time, Distance and others.

I restarted the watch and then Custom Alerts are shown in all activities I checked.
When I tried to setup a Custom Alert, nothing is saved!
Then I entered another activity and Custom Alerts are again NOT shown. After a reboot it appears again in the menu.

Other alerts can be saved and changed afterwards. I just checked a time alert in an indoor activity and this works. So a workaround is possible, but of course not ideal. I think for eating you can use a calories alert.

Thanks - I should have RTFM! Face palm I don't see eat or drink, and adding a Custom one does not work (isn't saved, just as the OP mentioned), but I just discovered a super useful feature.
