First waypoint of new route

What should be the first waypoint when creating a new route? Is it the first proper waypoint that you go to or is it the start position (current location). The activity is not a race so no startline orso that I have to get to.

Does the watch say when it switches to the next waypoint ? And is this changeable ?

thanks in Advance!

    Nobody ?

  • The watch has multiple possibilities....Way point navigation. ..like looking out for cabins or water sources etc... or Turn by Turn directions....  telling you when to take a turn.....or arrow indicators telling you when to turn......

Are you making your course in basecamp..explore .. or express? ... Basecamp and explore will give you way points to navigate to...  and it's up to you where to place them. express will generate automatic turn by turn directions. (not sure how to get way points working with express.)

Yes the watch should switch to the next way point. and you can change where you want way points.

I make a course on my watch itself. I have several waypoints stored that I add to a route and then navigate that course. The waypoints are several points along the coast. And depending on the day, wind and current I navigate some or all of them in a sequence.

Lets say I am on location (A) on the beach and my first waypoint (B) is 10 miles out to the right and my endpoint (C) is 20 miles further. When make a new course do I put B as my first waypoint or my current location (A) ?

  • Since there is an option to start at the current location.. . I'd say its an option and up to you.I would add it myself... as it shows the direct route to the first poi.. also on the watch I'm only getting direct routing.....and not a proper course...

what do you mean ? what is the difference between direct routing and proper course ? I am not english speaking so please explain

  • I am only getting a straight line to each saved location on the watch....

Its not navigating me using the roads....

  • I seen your post in the Fenix 5 forum to.... what watch do you have? If its a watch without mapping... then direct routing will be correct....and you wouldn't have noticed the map.

yes that is a setting. in the settings of you activity you can choose between direct course or follow roads.

I want direct route, there are no roads at sea

  • Hahaha! ... Lol.. : - )

Yes I can see why roads won't be much use to you!...

On my Fenix 5x plus.. . It doesn't matter if I choose follow course or use map..I still get direct routing on any map.....when navigating to multiple saved locations.
