Fenix 5 Plus: Google Calendar Syncronization to the watch : really only one day?

The third party r.485 calendar can be purchased and it syncs days in advance.

There is very little information available about the Garmin calendar app, however. Yes, it shows the next days workout and any event on the following day but that's pretty much it.

I understand I can sync via URL my Garmin calendar to my Google Calendar but it seems a pretty basic "must-have" to expect to be able to store calendar events on a smartwatch (ie the other way around) for when out without your mobile (which is, of course, a reason for purchasing fitness/smart-watch with music built-in).

There are no settings available for "sync period" or similar for the Garmin Calendar widget settings in the Connect app on my smartphone.

  • For calendar functionality, I find it much easier to just use my phone for anything more than glancing at the time of my next calendar event on the watchface

  • And that is the gist of it. The watch is not intended to supplant the phone.

And no one suggests it should since the phone is required to load up the calendar anyway BUT the watch can and does operate away for the phone for long periods.

The r.485 calendar syncs days ahead syncs days ahead : I shall use that.

The phone is much easier for many things but that doesn't mean the calendar function on the watch can't include your dentist appointment in 3 days. r.485 calendar manages it well. If we take the "phone does it better" view we might as well also dump all smart messaging and responses since they don't even work unless the phone is at hand. An on watch calendar of more than one day is not exactly breaking boundaries.
