Fenix 5 Plus: alerts ONLY for smart notifications

There seems to be some sort of mess with alerts.

I do NOT want activity alerts or system notifications such as "connected/disconnected". I do want silent vibration alerts for messages etc from smart notifications.

I turned off alerts at the top level (device/Sounds and Alerts in Garmin Connect app) and then enabled Phone smart notifications alerts (device/Sound and Alerts/Phone Notifications). Doesn't work unless alerts are on at the top level which seems to encompass all other alerts.

I don't think my use requirement is particularly strange. "Notify me of smart message/notifications and nothing else".

Maybe I'm missing a setting.

Please advise.

On the device:

settings->activity tracking->move alert

settings->phone->alerts (connected/disconnected)

settings->system->sounds (silent alerts)

The disconnect/connected alerts can be useful though - it saved me from leaving my phone in a restaurant.

I'm not sure your reply addresses my issue but thanks. I want only vibration alerts for smart notifications from the phone (eg SMS, WhatsApp, etc) but not from anything else. I can see why some would like the disconnect/connect notifications but I don't want them and yes I can turn those off specifically.

I don't think it's possible. Alert vibes are on or off. Smart Notifications seems to be covered with this "alert setting" regardless of the phone specific setting unless the SW on my Fenix 5 plus has got itself into a mess.

If you turn off phone alerts you will still get the other alerts you want. Although I am a little unsure what the 'etc' encompasses?
