How to retrieve HRM-Tri info after Fenix 5 plus dies mid-activity?

Hi there!

Forgot my charging cable while traveling for the weekend.

Then went for a long run (1h40) on Saturday with only 5% battery on my Fenix 5 plus.

Ultra-Trac enabled, HRM-Tri on, I had no option but let the watch die mid-activity, then manually log the extra miles afterwards.

HRM-Tri remained on my chest till the end, so I'm wondering if there's a way to retrieve the complete HRM session/ info so I can merge it with the GPX file.

I still have my 405 ANT+ USB stick and didn't sync the Fenix 5+ yet (as I'm only recharging it tomorrow).

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!!

the hrm-tri data needs to be in sync with the content of an existing activity fit file

time period hrm-tri = time period fit file

    it could goes like this....

the hrm-tri data needs to be in sync with the content of an existing activity fit file

time period hrm-tri = time period fit file

only then the data could be downloaded from the hrm-tri

downloaded hr data you will find also in the hr-data/temp folder on your watch as a fit file

    not testet yet

one could prepare a fake fit file for your missing time period

(log one yourself with your watch for the missing time period)

change the dates from that fake fit file to your missing time period

put the fake fit file in your newfiles folder

    download(sync) hr data

    ?

import & merge hr data into your original fit file

    Slight smile

    in short

log a fit file for the duration you are missing

change the time in that fit file with a tool like ... https://www.fitfiletools.com

put the fit file in the new files folder

    open activity

    download hr data

    ...

    ...

    ?

  • That was an incredible tip! Thanks! It did work!

    One minor caveat though.

If you're on a Mac (up to macOS High Sierra), it only provide limited native support for MTP devices, which means these watches will not be recognized as external drives.

In order to do that, you'll need to do download the Android File Transfer and then access the Activity folder on your watch.

    (Thanks again, GARMIN Rage)
