How to downgrade the software from v8.02 to v5.4 or 5.x on Garmin Fenix 5x Plus?

I have been having issues with navigating with my Garmin Fenix 5x Plus.The watch crashes and then goes into a boot loop when I try to navigate. No change in settings, hard reset or even buying another device has helped.

I upgraded to v8.02 per the suggestion of a Garmin support member but that hasn't helped either. My watch did work fine for navigation when it was on the older version 5.x, which came with the watch.

I'm new to this device. Could someone please help with downgrading the software to 5.x and the correct procedure to do it, including which files to move where, where to download, etc.? I'm in the US. Greatly appreciate your help!

Hi, thanks so much for that file. I placed that file in the Garmin folder but my device does nothing to downgrade. Are there any additional files I should have to downgrade? Thanks.

Hi, thanks for the link about hard resetting. I've already tried that but it's not helping with the main issue I'm facing. My device crashes when I try to navigate, especially when the routing method is Running and Walking.

Could you please let me know which other files I need to downgrade apart from the main gcd file? If yes, which are those files and in which folders should I place those files in the Garmin folder? Thanks,

No problem. Moving the gcd file in the Garmin folder of the device does not downgrade the device software.

Anyone else has any ideas on how to downgrade properly from 8.02, which additional files are needed and where to put all those files? Thanks.

Former Member send your watch to Garmin.

Did you rename it to GUPDATE.GCD ?
