Free up space for Bluechart

Hi Guys,

I've just got a Fenix 5+ (Ti)....actually it's main use, other than general fitness tracking, will be for sailing.

I have a Bleuchart I can add to the watch, but it will not fit with the pre-installed maps also on the device....is there a way I can "uninstall" those included maps (Topo Europe), keep them safe on a HDD, and thus free up enough space to put on the Bluechart?

I can see the map files using Android File Transfer, but not sure if simply removing the existing files to HDD will keep them safe, should I ever want to reinstall them?

This is exactly what I found too. The G2 vision charts are too large to fit on the watch although Garmin has said the G2 Charts are incompatible with the Fenix 5 plus. I have been told by Garmin that we need to purchase the G3 charts, at $350, in order to use marine charts on the watch, It seems ridiculous to have to purchase a $350 chart if the watch can't even fit the chart on the watch without sacrificing other maps and functions. Also why is there a "marine" mode in the watch settings if there isn't an ability to add marine charts.

Can someone at Garmin confirm if all this is true and advise us on how to add simple marine charts?
