7.60 on Fenix 5X Plus, walking/hiking heart-rate off

Since I upgraded the Fenix a few days ago the walking heart-rate seems to be completely out of whack.

Today I walked (carrying a backpack w/ shopping home) 10 km, and even on the decent climb on the way home the watch claimed my heart-rate was in the mid 70's, when a manual assessment (watch/pulse counting) suggested a pulse in the low 100s (105-120).

Same the day before on the way home.

In running mode, or when I just amble about at  home it seems fine.

Any ideas what's going on there?

  • I sent F5x plus to Garmin Service. I'll keep you updated...

  • Garmin Service replaced my watch with a new one. Thanx! But hr remains too low. I think it's a firmware issue...

  • Got a replacement as well after garmin support insisted for exchange, despite my concerns.....so as expected, new watch behaves the same way as the old one....heart rate way too long and after some time drops to resting heart rate level during hiking.....so I'm back to the chest strap HR monitor and use the HR of the watch just for 24/7 all day tracking...

  • I know this is not going to be constructive but I solved my Garmin OHR problems with a replacement watch from Polar. Got a Vantage V. The OHR sensor seems to work fine and I am appreciating the usable/actionable information I am getting from the data versus Garmin. I know the Vantage series got a bad rap when it first came out, but looks like after 4 major software releases, it is now pretty solid wrt GPS and OHR. I also enjoy Polar flow website a lot too.
