Pairing Garmin Explore to an already paired watch?

My Garmin Explore is not connected to my F5X+ any more. No problem, I will just pair it again - or so I thought.

It seems that I can only pair a watch to Garmin Explore by going into Garmin Connect and pairing the watch there. But it is already paired in Garmin Connect, and I don't want to unpair it.

It would seem logical, that if I am forced to pair Explore through Connect, then I should be able to pick the watch from a list of watches, which are already paired in Connect.

  • Are you talking about GC interweb? I've just opened my Garmin Explore after adding a new watch to GC interweb and it's there. If I go to my mobile and open up GE (iPhone X) my GCM paired watches (including the new one) is also there. This is the first time I've opened G Explore in weeks, and certainly since adding a new watch yesterday.

Neither time have I had to re-pair a watch.

  • No, I am talking about the Garmin Connect app on my phone. It wouldn't make sense to do a phone pairing of a device through GC web.

Anyway, both GC phone and GC web knows my watch. But Explore doesn't (anymore).

  • What phone? G Explore will ask to pair, but as long your watch is paired with GCM you only need accept it; at least that's been my experience. I have never had to un-pair or re-pair in GCM before getting a connection to G Explore.

  • Iphone 7.

Anyway, I found the reason: An Error 40.

I was not signed in in the Explore app. As soon as I signed in, the watch showed up as paired.
