RD Pod connects but doesn't show connected during activities

I have a Fenix 5S+ (SW v.7.10) and I have a new Garmin RD Pod. I was able to connect the RD Pod without any issues. However when I start an activity I see the icon to show that the RD Pod is connected on the watch.... I go for a run...  I stop and finish the activity and then I am reminded to remove the pod.

Sounds all good so far right!

It's really strange, looking in Garmin Connect I do see some additonal metrics (e.g. vertical ratio) so I know data is being captured but only about 1 in 4 runs has the RD POd icon listed in "devices" on the right side where I can see the watch, shoes etc.

Is the device losing connectivity during an activity, how can I check?

Is it just a bug in the Garmin Connect activity display?

  • I have a Fenix 5+ (Beta 7.55) and RD Pod. I've been using them together for nearly a year, except during the winter when I wear my HRM-TRI to ensure a good heart rate measurement. I run 4+ days a week. Never an issue with the RD Pod. It always appears in the gear list in Garmin Connect for each run when I wear it. I would try replacing the batteries in the RD Pod..and possibly removing the device from your watch and adding it back. If those don't work, I'd reach out to support. Hope that helps...
