Why is 5S Plus inconsistently able to sync with Garmin Connect?

For at least the last month, I have had difficulty getting my 5S Plus to sync with Garmin Connect.  When connected via USB to my iMac, it charges as it should, but it will not always connect with Garmin Connect.  I have tried cleaning the contacts on the 5S Plus and doing a soft reset.  One of those will sometimes work. I also tried a different USB cable.  It seems to be getting progressively worse.  Any help would be appreciated.

    My sync (Android) has been getting dodgier as well lately. I don't think it's the connection because it charges more reliably than it syncs (but even charging is not completely reliable, even with a new cable I am sometimes having to find the right edge to lay the watch on for it to sync, and the right angle as well, and the right burnt offering sometimes too). I think it's software/firmware related, but of course I'm not sure.

    But for sure, my sync experience is also getting less reliable.

  • No, I don't get any message.  The watch just doesn't say it is attached in Garmin Connect.  I restart the software a number of times as well as doing the other steps I previously mentioned.  More than a month ago, I called Garmin and cleaning the contacts was the only recommendation they had.

  • Things got better here when I bought a new cable. The old one was so sensitive in terms of the exact position and orientation the cable/watch had to be in.

    I was really disappointed that although that problem got better with the new cable, it still behaves like that, just to a lesser degree.
