Fenix 5x plus with new firstbeat features (kinda ) how to use (without 945)

Ok...So I just bought a 945. Today I went training with my f5x+ and after my workouts sync my new fr 945 to my connect iq. After a few minutes the data from my f5x+ was analysed by my fr945 and gave me all the new metrics without using my fr945 to get them.

So for 800$ (canadian) you can also get the new firstbeat features with your 5x+...

But seriously, this kinda prooves our point that all of the features (new ) from the 945 are software only and doable with the f5x+ software...garmin make it happen.

  • Hi, thanks for sharing the experience.

Do you also see the new metrics on your F5x+? Do you see them in Garmin Connect?

I’m thinking about getting a edge 530 and I wonder if I’ll be able to get the new metrics for activities done with the F5+.

    On my 945 and connect

  • Yes, this more or less confirms my prior thinking that the new edge head units and updated edge 1030 in the future will be able to use these new features even if they are recorded with an older head unit.

It's great that it works this way as I won't miss the new metrics that much on my 5+. This is the logical way to do it, having a supported head unit parse the fit files from other devices.
