Triathlon - Alert Setup for events

Hi,

Bought a Fenix 5 Plus and really impressed with the functionality. I have been experimenting with setting up alerts for specific sports such as Biking or running.

I have just started experimenting with Triathlon functionality however I'm not having much luck however not having much success on doing this for

I'm trying to setup several alerts for a Triathlon that are specific to each event.

I'm looking to setup the following alerts during a triathlon:

  • Bike - Alarm every x minutes for nutrition
  • Run - Range pace alert to maintain pace mins/km

Does anyone know how to set this up?

Thanks

The triathlon activity (or any multisport activity) will use the alerts set up for whatever sports are part of it. If you go into the settings menu for the triathlon activity you will find an option to allow alerts. Make sure this is on. You could then set up the alerts under the normal run and bike activities and they would apply to triathlon as well.

If you want these alerts to be only for bikes and runs that are part of a tri and not others there is a way to do that. You would need to create a copy of the bike and run activities and set the alerts on these copies. Then change the triathlon activity to use the copies instead of the originals.

  • Hi that makes perfect sense. Had a look in Garmin Connect online but couldn't see the option to duplicate an activity. Do you know where I should be looking?

You have to do this on the device itself. If you go to the list of activities as if you were about to start one and scroll to the bottom there should be an option to "Add". Select that and in the next menu you'll have the option to copy an activity. Do this for both the run and bike activities and give them unique names so you can keep track of them. Set your alerts in these activities and then edit the triathlon activity to use them instead of the default bike and run.

  • Big thank you for all of your help. Did a half ironman at the weekend and all of your suggested changes worked. Thanks again for your help. The only challenge was I was a little too optimistic re my pace on the half marathon. Nothing more annoying then your watch beeping every few seconds Weary
