Garmin, do you even test brah? (Power drains 7x faster than my old 5)

So I finally got myself a Fenix 5 Plus a couple of weeks ago and oh boy what an annoying experience it has been so far. So basically 5 Plus drains the battery 7 times faster than my old Fenix 5. I don’t use Smart features I never connected the watch to WiFi or Bluetooth. I turned off all sensors except Activity Tracking one (yes I turn off HR sensor as well)I and with all that turned off I get 8 days of battery life? This is less then advertised by Garmin in the Smart mode. They promise 12 days in the Smart watch mode. 8 days? My old 5 gets me 56 days in the same mode with the same features turned on. This is literally 7 times less battery life. Oh and BTW I did try a different 5 Plus thanks to REI great exchange policy. Seriously though does Garmin test their software. This is embarrassing time to looks elsewhere. How’s Fitbit?

PS I'm running 7.10 FW on the watch.

  • Fitbit’s the greatest great activity tracker in the world...if it means that you don’t ever post again here in the Garmin forum.

    Ok brah?

    Ps: 56 days....? Sure

  • Brah.  Talk like a real adult and maybe we can take you serious

Keep walking brah... if you have nothing to say on the subject don't say anything. I would suggest to look at an issue not the language there is still a huge issue with the battery life and Garmin's reluctance to solve it regardless of how the message was delivered.

You are using very offensive language. This is how we speak in my neighborhood. I'm getting tried of listening to your privileged language talking down on people. Next time try to be more inclusive and tolerant of other cultures.

  • I've found the same with my Fenix 5 plus on 7.10.....I get drain of 0.3-04.4% per hour no matter what I turn on or off!  People should give it a try!   Kind of hard to believe turning off a bunch of flashing leds with HR data recording makes no difference!

There's definitely something up with the software on the F5+....it will just be a matter of time before it gets fixed i would think.

This current behaviour is very strange....I too had a non-plus series watch and could also get really long life with everything(at least  a month)  turned off i.e. OHR, Bluetooth etc.

PS...using the word "brah" doesn't bother me at all!

  • I don’t talk down to people, I treat them like they deserve. If you would have wrote a legitimate post, with legitimate questions, then you would have gotten legitimate answers.

Instead, you wrote like an idiot and made outlandish and quite frankly impossible claims. To top it off, you then asked about switching to Fitbit.

Hmm...I wonder why no one has really tried to help you...

Using the word "brah" is cultural and is not a sign of ignorance or speaking like a child. Take a trip to the Hawaiian Islands and you'll hear it daily.  Would you say a Canadian isn't speaking like an adult for saying "eh"?

I noticed the same thing. I've tried different configurations. HR on/off MoveIQ on off etc. basically all permutations of the settings and I get the same result about 0.3-0.5% per hour.

I've also just installed 7.56beta last night and I'm getting even worse results. 0.7% an hour. This is unfortunately unacceptable because my Fenix 5 gets me 0.8% per day.

in the end I bought this watch for hiking in mountains in Hawaii and if with the GPS on it dies in 4-5 hours is unacceptable to me.

I'm going to try one more thing that is email [email protected] and report this bug if they don't fix it by the time 7.52 comes out unfortunately this watch will have to go back to the store.

I'm sorry you got so upset about the language but quite frankly you should take your white privilege somewhere else and teach someone else how to speak. As far as outlandish clams goes I'm looking at my Fenix 5 right now at it shows discharge rates of 0.9% per day which in ideal conditions would work out to be 100 days wouldn't it?  Again if you have nothing to say don't say anything. And as far as help goes there is nothing to help even when Garmin support admins that 13-15% discharge rates a day with everything off are normal. And on top of that she admitted today they 12 days that they claim on the web site is false advertisement  and they will change it to 8 days. So I better take a screenshot before they do just in case I will need it later.

  • So now you’re now turning this into a “race” issue?

A quick camera picture of your “Battery Widget” will clear everything up and show everyone on this forum that you’re getting 56 Days on a single charge (as per your original post).

Also, while you’re at it, take a screenshot of the email that Garmin stated that 12 Days was “false advertising” as I’m interested in seeing them actually state that.

Hey, you show all of that and don’t provide excuses to why you’re not, then I will admit that I was wrong and give you the credit that your deserve. =)
