Live tracking fails when more than one device

Live tracking seems to be an issue when you have more than one device registered in your Garmin Connect profile / app - it seems it can only use one and need manual interaction to activate each device for every activity when switching between devices. 

I have an Edge 1000 I am using to commute - cycling to work and then I run home in the afternoon using my Fenix 5... live tracking fails on at least ome devices if not changed in Garmin App... so annoying! Is there a fix for this please?

I see this as a safety concern when live tracking fails, is this something Garmin can fix please?
