Difference between the "Map" application and the "Navigate" application

I posted this question on the 945 forum, but I haven't had any replies. It's my assumption most aren't familiar with Garmin watches with maps; like myself, so I figured I'd try here. Anyway, I'm having a problem using the "around me" feature while using the Map app. It continuously just shows "loading map" on my watch. The feature works perfectly with the Navigate app. My question is, what's the difference between the two apps?  Is there something the Map app can do that the Navigate app can't. Thanks!

  • While I can’t verify this but some on 7.10 with the 5+ series we’re having a hard time with the Map/Around Me not loading but the beta of 7.52 working. The Navigate/Around Me works basically the same in terms of showing things around you. The Navigate seems to be more “direct” of you’re looking to go somewhere specifically. The “Map” option shows things around your proximity and then the option of hitting the Menu button and scrolling down to “Around Me”.

    Hope this helps

It does help, thank you.  I'm wondering if the 2.40 on the 945 is similar to the 5+ 7.10 version and hopefully the 945's first FW update will address this too.  Thanks again Odie21.

  • No problem. Sorry for some of the discombobulated verbiage in the first post. I was about to teach a class and a student came in early to ask questions, thus causing me to be a bit spacey with my response. Guys...we’re not good at multitasking.
