Everyone, we are wanting to look into these reports of battery drain after 7.10 software updates. If you are experiencing this, and are on software 7.10, could you please contact Product Support via Chat…
doesn't matter, because before 7.10 everything was OK.
This is 7.10 firmware fault.
I looking for help buth what will you help here? watch in daily use lost 35% for 24 hours. it was weak with a battery, but never quite like that. And this is how it has been since I have 7.10
There is some serious bug in the firmware since the first release of this watch. I have owned fenix 5 plus for more than half a year. There has never been perfect battery management and I experienced huge post activity drain randomly, but not after each activity. Past ca. 5 battery cycles I am running 7.10 version of the firmware. First 3 cycles surprisingly post-activity drain did not appear, I was quite happy thinking it's finally fixed and having similar to advertised battery consumption. But 4th cycle when the battery dropped to 50% in the evening, the next day in the morning the watch had 6% and soon turned off. Same happened now with the 5th cycle. It looks like Garmin is desperate with this watch and not able to release stable firmware after 1 year of selling it. There have been so many attempts but always 1 issue is fixed and other new appears. This is a shame for Garmin and this product is crap.
Hi There,
Yesterday Garmin sent a new F5 + in a box. He came with the 5.6 software. I uploaded 7.1, charged to full.
50 min training with Jabra 65+ Stryd + HRM 12% so perfect.
after 12 hours from evening to morning 5% Now it is good.
Morning 45% charged, after I got to work in 40 minutes - watch drained and powered off, cannot even turn on !!!
Have you had any 6 beta ?
Yes, several versions. I experienced irregular high post-activity drain, however not this random drain as now with 7.10. Post-activity drain looks gone for now.
I'm getting 0.3-0.4% burn during SW mode and 8-10% burn per hour during an activity (GPS only, HRM, 1 sec recording). Nowhere near the advertised figures and I'm getting a bit fed up with it. This is on FW 7.1.
If anyone is interested you can log your battery usage into your activities by using "Battery Up Down":
https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/84104c99-6ad2-4bcb-8537-8bfb6d141089
It doesn't make any difference to the drain rate from what I've seen. You can see the level and power usage in Garmin Connect after installing this.
Same here, increased battery drain during exercise since 7.10. The post activity drain disappears and another bug appears to replace it.
For those of you who haven't read it, another interesting post by DC rainmaker about garmin software
www.dcrainmaker.com/.../competitor-software-instability.html
What do you mean? Average 0.35%/h equals to 24x35x12=100% (rounded) i.e. 12 days, as advertised.
And GPS mode is good for 10 hours if I'm correct so 10% * 10 is 100% i.a. 10 hours. As advertised.
I might be wrong though...
Sorry but the GPS advertised time is 19 hours with OHR. I don't use music or Garmin pay or anything. Hardly close to 10 hours.
The SW average for me is closer to 10% per day....if it was getting 8% I'd be fairly happy.
I am amazed that you two can have this discussion without knowing each other's watch models.
As if it doesn't make any difference if the other person has a 5+, a 5S+ or a 5X+.
