Overblown active calories

Dear all,

I have this issue since 1 month ago and tried everything I read on forums:

My active calories on my fenix 5 plus are overblown. Im walking 30 minutes and I'm getting 650 active calories (im 183 tall and 70 kg), before that was 125.

Im getting impatient and angry that i paid 850 eur for this piece of ****.

I tried to change the activity leve, move IQ, hard reset my watch, etc.. Nothing seems to help.

Have you tried calling them instead of emailing?

Have you correctly set your age, sex weight and height?

Sorry, seems that my post wasn’t saved.

Yes, I set my data correctly. Itching seems to help ( also factory reset 2 times, changed my activity level multiple times to see if there difference, changed the base year rate, etc.)

Nothing seems to solve the issue and Garmin support doesn’t reply for days.

Today just went till the grocery, 10 minutes and in total 551 meters and already had 67 active calories. That’s insane.

Im getting under the impression that the watch is faulty.

Check that your heart rate zones are set correctly as well. I went for a walk last night with my dog and noticed my heart rate was 61 bmp but it was reading that I was in zone 5 (maximum). Somehow my zones under user settings got screwed up. Maybe because I recently added a new device, i don't know for sure. Doing an activity with what the watch thinks is a maxed out heart rate , even if the bpm is low, is going to give you a much higher calorie reading than if your zones are set correctly. Hope this helps.
