Erratic Running Dynamics from the HRM-TRI (opposed to RD Pod which is good!)

I wanted running dynamics to use the Running Power feature. So I've been using the RD Pod for a while now without any issue, but recently wanted to combine this with a better HRM monitor so I purchased the HRM-TRI, so that I could leave the Pod at home.

However, the running dynamics coming from the HRM-TRI are at best "broken" and "erratic". See for instance this activity https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/3644312826 . It's one of the worse examples because I have seen a few cases where it's slightly better. Never "smooth" as with the RD Pod. I have tried electrode gel, soaking the band, wetting my skin etc. But I don't think it's related as the Heart Rate data itself is smooth all the time. It's only the RD data from the HRM-TRI that is spotty. Stride length, Vertical Ratio, GCT balance, and therefore Running Power have lots of "gaps". My watch, the Fenix 5S+ is not to blame because when I run with an RD Pod, there are NO such interruptions. For example: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/3653789303I can only conclude that this HRM TRI has a defect.

Any ideas? Similar experiences?
