The BX has the Fenix 5 on sale this week for $339. Then I’ve got a gift card for another $20. So I could get it pretty cheap. But, is the instinct better? Any word on a Vivoactove 4? I’m currently using the VA3. Running, hiking and cycling are all I record. The 5S is also on sale, is it better than the regular 5? Sorry if this seems jumbled.
Not necessarily, the Instinct is a pretty solid watch. If you don’t care about the CIQ store and Color, then the Instinct holds its own against the Fenix 5. 810G on it is also very nice as well.
I prefer the Instinct vs my 5x+ and Mk1. Just wish they had a “Blackout” version of the Instinct.
The F5S is smaller and therefore has a smaller battery and shorter time between charges relative to the regular F5.
If you’re currently fairly happy with the features on the VA3 then then Instinct will probably meet your needs as well and the choice between it and the F5 is mainly down to how you feel about the looks of each.
So I hike, trail run, run (indoor track, outdoor, treadmill) mountain bike and occasional road bike. Other than that it’s my everyday watch. I love getting my text notifications on my watch and see who’s calling without having to pull my phone out. I’ve been using Garmin since 07 with a FR205, FR10 (trash), vivosmart, Vivoactive (still my personal fav of the VA line), VAHR and now VA3. I like what the instinct offers with the best of VA and Fenix lines. But if the Fenix does everything I need I would almost rather get it over the instinct. Especially if I can get it out the door $309 tax free. I can get the instinct for about $259 tax free. I figured $50 for more features might be worth it, but I also don’t want to buy the Fenix if it’s to much watch.
I did some Google searches with not much luck, but when should we expect a VA4 or Fenix 6? Seems like both lines should be do soon for a new model.
I might have actually just found my answer. The instinct does not connect to speed/cadence sensors on a bike. That’s one thing I need for my road bike.
