Incident Detection with FALSE alarms

Hello,

today my sister and my girl friend got around 20 SMS and Emails to their private mobile phones and company mobile phones that I had an accident- which was, fortunately, not the case. I was riding with my bike to work as usual when my phone starts to ring and my sister and my girlfriend called me one after the other to tell me that they received the alarm messages.

I really hope that this feature is improved a lot in the near future to prevent these false alarms. Otherwise it will be completely useless and generates a LOT of stress by the recipients of these messages. I was not making any stunts with my bicycle. I needed to break a bit harder on a crossing section and this seem to have triggered the alarm.

Garmin - please fix this or remove the feature. False alarms are not funny.

Under Settings>Safety>Incident Detection, you can turn this off based on activity type, so you may want to do that until they resolve any sensitivity issues.

It does offer a "Send I'm ok" option and vibrates - did you not notice the vibration? I know when I tested the emergency service it was quite insistent in its vibration...

Thanks for letting me know. No, I did not notice the vibration. It's not very strong at all and when you're concentrated to your surrounding traffic while riding a bicycle, I guess nobody will notice this either.

Report the issue to garmin with a link to the activity - it'll help them resolve any sensitivity issues if they can get access to the raw data.

It’s happened to me twice. Both times I couldn’t turn it off in time, both times false alarms. Yeah, they have to tune this a bit more.

Same problem happened here with a Garmin Fenix 6 today. My mom freaked out, my sister called me and my wife (luckily?) was okay since she didn't see the messages before I got a chance to call her that I am okay. All that I did was change direction quickly on my road bike followed by somewhat sudden braking to accommodate for bumpy terrain ahead. I did not hear or feel any "alert" before the watch started sending alerts to all my contacts. Not pleasant at all.
