Fenix 5s plus : Bluetooth stability since upgrade in 7.10

I have upgraded in 7.10. Since this upgraded, the bluetooth stability is really bad during activity. The music stops sporadically. Sometimes, it is near than impossible to understand the activities' notifications.
If I listen to music without having started an activity, the connection is perfectly stable.

Before the upgrade, the connection was not perfect, but it get worst with 7.10.

Am I the only one who meets the issue ?
Any advice how to resolve it ?

Regards.

Rod.

Noone ? For information, I use Jabra Elite Sport.
  • Just to let you know your post is read. No BT issues here (but I'm not using headphones).
  • I don't mean to rub it in, just to help give some fuller context. I have a Garmin fenix 5 Plus (not S).

I'll probably jinx it but I use Jabra Elite Active 65t earphones and I've found the stability is much *better* since upgrading to 7.10. I've used them 3-4 times since the upgrade and I can now use the Garmin on my left wrist despite the master earbud being on the right-side. Previously, I had to use the Garmin on my right wrist, or I'd get drop-outs.

I'm touching wood whilst I write this though! :-)

GavRace , Thanks for your answer. Do you listen the music during an activity (meaning GPS is on and heart rate captor is on, ...) ? Do you use notifications (a voice is telling you your lap time for instance) ?
If I list to music without starting an activity, bluetooth is really stable. I summise a performance or an electrical voltage issue. It could be related only to the 's' model.
  • Yes. I have listened to Deezer with just my watch (no iPhone) with my Jabras connected, as well as an external HR chest strap and a Garmin Dynamic Footpod connected all working great (albeit with a sizeable battery drain - to be expected).

I get notifications telling me what I've asked for (in Garmin Connect) through the Jabras over the music.

I don't get the same symptoms as you but as you say, I don't have the "S".

I made a test : if I put my watch on the right wrist : I have no disconnection, on the left, it is not stable.

Conclusion: the bluetooth signal is not as strong as the 5plus on the 5s plus. If you left hand like me, wear the Fenix on the right hand during your activity. It is a shame but this is the situation.

  • Several workouts on the left wrist with BT (notifications and music by phone) w/o problems. (fenix 5Xplus)

  • That depends on your headphones actually. If your headphone antenna is on the left side, then obviously you should use the watch on the left hand, if it's on the right? Obviously it should be the right, especially with Truly Wireless headphones.

I have the very same problem. It's a shame

  • Garmin fenix 5 plus, jabra elite sport, left hand - 7.60, 8.40 - dropouts :-( invested lot of money to watch and as well to earbuds to have premium experience.... so far I'm rather disappointed and desperately looking for solution.
