Garmin Coach Widget

Since they have added up to half marathon at 7 minute mile pace on Garmin Coach I thought I would give it a try. When I trialled this last year with the 5k plan it added a Garmin Coach Widget to the watch so that I could quickly check upcoming sessions. This has not appeared on the half marathon plan on software 7.10.

Anyone tried these new plans and have the widget showing?
  • Just tested this but the Coach Widget does not show for me on "add Widgets".

I added another widget and it appeared for a brief moment in the list but was never seen again afterwards.

    Also 7.51

  • I’m using a fenix 5s sapphire on software v 13.30

  • I used my watch to add the widget because I couldn’t see the widget or get it on garmin connect IQ store.

  • Got it. I think everyone else in this thread is using a Fenix 5+ variant. I think it must be working fine on the F5S software. I tried to add a widget like you did, but Garmin Coach wasn't available to add, likely because the watch thinks it is already added.

  • Just spoke to Garmin support and they say this is a known problem and have been fixed in 7.55 Beta SW.

  • I've installed 7.55 Beta and indeed i can see the widget now. With upcoming workouts in the plan and the run i did today.

Installation of 7.55 beta went fine and 'everything' was working as expected. One remark when i came home after my run (without my phone Samsung S8) the watch (F5s+) and my phone couldn't sync anymore. Had to connect the watch with Garmin connect which failed. So I've deleted the watch in connect and the BT menu on phone and had o do the whole installation process as if it was a new watch.....Never happened before will try again later when i leave the phone at home after a workout.

  • Can confirm: fixed in software version 7.60.

  • I also tried the Garmin Coach now (5k program) on my F5+ (7.60), and I am pretty disappointed by the widget.

I had a easy run planned for Saturday and a Long easy run for Sunday. I didn't manage to go running on Saturday, and didn't have a lot of time on Sunday, so I wanted to do the easy run on Sunday.

Unfortunately, this wasn't possible. The watch (through widget and running app) showed me only the Long easy run that was planned for Sunday. Now (Monday) still the Long easy run is shown in the widget. Probably, as there is no run planned for today.

It seems like the widget can only show one (the current / last) planned activity.

It seems like it is not possible to select an old / unfinished activity from the watch... This was pretty frustrating yesterday, when I wanted to do the Easy run. Or does anyone know how to start an old activity? The calendar widget didn't work either.

You're unfortunately not able to reschedule historical workouts that you've missed. I normally just head out and log a run with an Aerobic/Anaerobic TE that I normally would for the workout that I've missed.

  • Thanks for your reply, yes that's what I did as well.

It is just super frustrating as of course I would expect the coach also to take into account which workouts I have done...

Wait... Do you link another workout to the Garmin coach or do you just do a "normal" activity similar to the one that you missed?
