Fenix 5 Plus - Cycling?

Thinking of getting the Fenix 5 Plus as I am training for my first traithlon - sprint.

How does the watch help me with cycling? I suppose it will give speed and distance, what else do I need to receive power data like watts?

How effective is it with cycling? Advice?
  • A power meter. It can be as effective for cycling as it for running and swimming. It all comes down to how you use it.
  • Yup, get a power meter. I am training for my first half distance and power stats help a whole lot. You will get all the training and performance info from the F5 too (indoor and outdoor). I have just had a new one with bike so am actually selling my practically new 4iiii 105 5800 meter (170mm)

If you are keen, then PM me.

    Cheers
  • It's surprisingly good for cycling. I use mine for it when I travel and don't want to bring my 1030. It connects to every sensor (power meter, Di2, speed, cadence, etc). and collects all data. Surprised how much functionality they packed into it.
  • My main sport is cycling too. I chose the fenix 5+ cos I run and swim occasionally. I am yet to buy a power meter, and if it is a dual sided one, you might not need a separate cadence sensor at all :) I use one of the single fields for cycling, and have only 2 screens and the map in the bike profile.

screen1: Speed, HR, average HR, time, timer of the activity, Distance, Battery
screen2: Calories burnt, avg speed, temperature, total ascent
    screen3: map

    :)
