I did my first activity using 7.10 and got strange elevation results showing -500m then up to 12,602m, I've never had any issue with elevation before. Elevation gain appears to be correct even thought my elevation is showing as exactly -500m for the last 2 hours of a 4 hour activity. Also looks like battery went from 92% to 27% ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1476486.jpg
I’m not seeing this with 7.10 on board. Have you tried a forced soft reset? (hold light button for 20 seconds until power off, then restart). That often clears some ‘awkward’ behaviour after a software update.
It is bad idea to force soft-reset. SW does not save necessary data on it. I performed restart only, after noticed extremely high battery consumtion. After restart battery behaves ok. Map panning speed is still issue. Open map, open Options, open Pan/zoom and try to move map. You and me have different maps, definitely, so it worth to check how it goes on US/EU/RU TopoActive maps.
Courses are broken. Have 3 items in Garmin connect, sent these to device via Express, opened last one from the Run menu. It has the same name as 1st in my list. That's odd. Then review it on map - get ======= pattern on map filled in. Tried to delete all the courses via device menu, no luck, the one is immortal.
No it’s not a bad idea, as it doesn’t delete any data or reset settings (unlike other master reset methods). The long press of the light button (soft reset) outwardly seems to just force a shut down, then you power on as normal, but it seems to do a bit more than a simple power off then on in terms of clearing problems. Give it a go, it really won’t clear any settings or data from your watch.
Soft reset did not help and it should not. It is Garmin issue with map speed panning. It is confirmed with another examples from other users.
Found also that manually edited Courses cause such strange effect, and Garmin/NewFiles inlcude the .fit file after all sync, that is incorrect. Also this file cannot be imported backwards to Garmin Connect (at the same time produced GPX works). Well, Garmin should test more and more basic functions, starting from coordinates and importing GPX and FIT files.
I received the update yesterday. Sadly, my battery seems to drain much faster with the update. Previously, after a full charge it wouldn't budge of 100% for several hours, and I could get by charging only once a week with a 25 minute GPS activity and another 25 minute non-GPS activity most days. Now I can practically watch the battery drain away :(
Also high battery consumption on 7.10. Beta 6.71 was much better. Charged it a couple of days ago, did a 50 minute ran right away and no drain. Pre and post run saw around .38%.
Yesterday my average suddenly jumped to .47 per hour and now it is .8. No more GPS used, just SM mode.
I have had 7.10 for just over 2 days and have done 2 GPS activities, battery drain is exactly as I would expect and I have not experienced any post activity drain. So for me this version seems to have fixed battery issue.
However they have messed up the map speeds now.......Garmin gives and Garmin takes away :(
