Cannot pair RD-POD (ant broken?)

Hi,

I have a brand new Fenix 5 Plus with firmware 6.0. I cannot pair my Running Dynamics Pod with the watch. I have tried two different pods, and several batteries. The watch just searches for the device, and does not find anything. Bluetooth is working fine.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

I'm considering returning the watch, as I suspect the ANT-part in the watch is broken. This is actuality already a replacement watch. The first watch had a broken gyroscope-sensor, so no steps count and so forth.

I hope I have just been extremely unlucky and that this is not a general indicator of the quality of the product.

Best regards
  • Hello everyone. I finally managed to connect the pod to the watch. This is what i did:

Turned off watch. Removed battery from pod. Reversed battery and put it back in pod (allegedly that resets the pod). Removed battery again and put it in the right way. Turned on watch. Searched for pod while shaking pod vigorously. Pod showed up on watch. Bliss.

Best regards and thanks for the inputs.

Is it possible perhaps to post on Facebook etc for anyone local to you with an ANT+ sensor (hr, tempe, foot pod etc) for you to go to them and do a quick test? If you were local to me, for example, I'd let you borrow my Tempe.

As a thought though they are £20 at the moment on eBay (so quite cheap), so depending on if you'd find use for an external Temperature sensor it may be worth the money just for the test.

Any local running groups to you on FB for example - someone there would probably have a ANT+ sensor?

I did borrowed a Fenix 3 and a FR235 to test, but it wasn’t detected either.  Conclusion is the RD Pod is dead.

Not sure if It is eligible for warranty?  Could not see any serial number on the pod
