black sapphire version after few months of usage

How does your black sapphire Fenix 5 Plus version look after few months of regular usage?
Does it scratch easily? Are the scratches visible?
Could you please post some pics of a few months old unit?
Would you choose again the same version?

  • I've had mine about 9 months. The only scratches I see are on the very top edge of the bezel. These are barely noticeable to me. Of course, when I zoom in on the photos I see I need to give my watch a good cleaning!! Two photos..one with flash, one without. I can't seem to get a photo to load, so I'm sharing a link to a folder in my google drive. Hope that works...

I'm very active...run, trail run, road bike, mtn bike, swim, open water swim, strength training, etc. I'm doing two or three activities just about every day. I would definitely buy this version of the watch again.
  • I don't have the ability to post a photo right now but I've been wearing mine almost exclusively (worn a F5S+ stainless bezel for a week or two a couple of times) since December and have no noticeable marks anywhere.

I've been rehabbing a foot injury so I haven't been using it in an outdoor sports mode much but most of my watch abuse comes from reaching behind random office machines any way and it has held up well in those day-to-day situations.
  • Worn every day for 8 months.

Done about 180 activities. Mountain biking mostly. Road riding. Hiking. Running. Pool, and open water swimming. Have done nothing to take care of it beyond buying a sweet orange wirst strap that is less tacky (as in rubbery and sticky) than the default band. Slight scuffs.

Given the various crashes I've had on the mountain bike, I'm genuinely surprised that there are no scratches on the face, or dents in the body.

Would buy the same device again if I broke this one.

  • Different experience here. Scratched my old one on a plastic bin lid. Totally innocuous. Massive scratch.

if this website wasn’t so bad I would upload an image. I was very disappointed with its so called toughness.
  • My bezel has a lot of scratches, but I only think about it when I look for them. Which is kind of strange, because they should be really visible, with the bare metal exposed under the black paint.

I haven't really treated this watched nicely. When I kayak, I have it mounted on the deck in front of me and often hit it with my paddle. And when I wore it during a lifeguard examination where I was playing the unconscious victim some of the time, I was dragged over the floor tiles at the pool, with the watch facing downwards.

So I would say that every scratch is well deserved. The glass is like new, by the way.
  • Had about 6 months now - 130 odd activities simming indoors and out, kayaking and running and 24/7 wear - no scratches noticeable unless you look really closely then very very minor - have knocked against door frames, cuboards and drawers in a way that never happened with my 935 but it seems to have held up well. The strap however (standard black) looks a little rubbed around the buckle area but still looks good structurally. However again if I compare to the fluorescent yellow strap on 935 - that showed no signs of wear after a yesrs use.
